Office Christmas party: what happens to the photos on Monday

The Christmas party is the only evening of the year when the colleague from field sales and the colleague from the late shift are in the same room. So plenty of photos get taken.

The work starts on Monday. Someone needs pictures for the New Year email, someone else one for the intranet, and in spring HR would like something for a job advert. The search then runs through three group chats and two inboxes, and whatever turns up has already been shrunk to an eighth of its size by the messaging app.

With a shared gallery, that Monday takes ten minutes. All the pictures are in one place, in the resolution the phones captured them in — sharp enough for a printed noticeboard, not just a thumbnail.

On the evening itself, nothing changes. There is nothing to install, no sign-up, no account. A sign on the standing tables is enough, and anyone who doesn't want to upload simply doesn't.

Five points for the organising team

Go through them once before the evening and the rest runs by itself. Setting it all up takes ten minutes.

  1. Where do the codes go?

Not just on the tables. The cloakroom, the standing tables and the wall everyone lines up against for group photos have also proved their worth. The table sign comes as a ready-to-print template — all you need is a printer.

  2. Who checks first?

You can set it so that no picture becomes visible until someone has approved it. If you use this, decide beforehand who will click through on the next working day. Otherwise the gallery sits empty, even though everyone has been busily uploading.

  3. What if someone doesn't want to be in it?

Every single picture can be removed — by you as the host, not only by the person who uploaded it. A line on the sign saying whom to contact spares everyone an awkward conversation.

  4. What gets kept?

The gallery is the collection point, not the archive. Download what you want to use and store it wherever your records live anyway. You don't need to worry about the rest.

  5. When does it end?

The period is part of the package and runs from the first picture. Fourteen days and again three days beforehand, a reminder goes to the address used to create the gallery. After that it is deleted — automatically, without anyone having to remember.

Questions

Common questions

See all questions →
Do I need an account as the host?

Yes — without an account we couldn't assign the gallery to you or let you manage it. It's created when you set up your first gallery: enter your email address, done. There's no password; we send you a link every time you sign in. Your guests still don't need to sign in anywhere.

Can I delete pictures again?

As the host you can hide or delete any picture. Guests can only remove their own uploads, not other people's. And you can delete the whole gallery early at any time, without asking us.

What quality do I get the pictures in?

Downloads come in full original resolution, exactly as the phone took them. In the gallery itself we show smaller versions — that saves your guests' data and keeps browsing fast.

What does it cost my guests?

Nothing. You pay once for the gallery, your guests upload and download for free — as often as they like.
